چکیده

This paper presents a finite element numerical method to assess the stress state and gradients induced by thermo-oxidative ageing in Ti/epoxy/Ti adhesively bonded joints for aircraft engine applications. The is dealing with couplings between thermal, chemistry mechanics occurring during high-temperature of joint, taking into account post-curing stresses, under mechanical loading. Calculations are carried out on classical single lap joint configuration. An assessment thermo-oxidation at each step process out. It shown that within adhesive results from superposition several physical fields strongly affected gradients. Moreover, stresses cannot be neglected when compared yield stress. Numerical analyses paramount importance complex related multiphysics design.

Computational Models of Adhesively Bonded Joints

Simulations using the Finite Element Method (FEM) play an increasingly important role in the design process of joints and fasteners in the aerospace industry. In order to utilize the potential of such adhesive bonding, there is an increasing need for effective and accurate computational methods. The geometry and the nature of an adhesive joint are, however, not so simple to describe effectively...

Analytical Solution of Stress Field in Adhesively Bonded Composite Single-Lap Joints Under Mechanical Loadings

In this paper, considering an adhesively bonded composite single-lap joint, a novel approach is presented to predict the peel and shear stress distributions of the adhesive layer for an ASTM standard test sample. In current method, the equilibrium equations are derived using the energy method and based on the Timoshenko’s beam theory. Two solution procedures then are discussed, one of which rep...

A Probabilistic Method to Predict the Strength of Adhesively Bonded Joints of Gfrp

Experimental and numerical investigations were carried out on adhesively bonded full-scale double lap joints from pultruded GFRP profiles with relatively thick adhesive layers, needed in infrastructure applications to compensate for tolerances. The influence of different geometrical parameters on the joint strength was investigated, namely the thickness of the adhesive layer (from 5 to 35 mm), ...

Numerical Analysis of Directionally Unstable Crack Propagation in Adhesively Bonded Joints

This paper investigates the directional stability of crack propagation in adhesively bonded joints. First, an analytical model analyzing the energy balance during the crack propagation in double cantilever beam (DCB) specimens is presented, and the directional stability of cracks is predicted. The results are consistent with the analytical predictions made by Fleck, Hutchinson, and Suo [1] usin...
